Happy Canada Day!

By Zannat Reza, MHSc RD

Happy Canada Day!!!

Have an amazingly delicious long weekend featuring red and white-themed recipes.

With local strawberries in season, how about these Strawberry Cardamom Scones? I created this recipe for Canadian Lentils, so yes, there are lentils in these scones but you’ll never know it. They are scrumptious if I do say so myself. Lentils are the perfect food to enjoy on Canada Day. Did you know that Canada is the world’s largest producer and exporter of lentils? Yes, that’s right. Shocking!

To whet your appetite, here are mouthwatering recipes from a few of my dietitian friends:

Watermelon Salad – Dara & Erin from How to Eat

Maple Strawberry Yogurt Parfaits – Gina Sunderland

Strawberry, Cucumber and Red Pepper Salad with Maple Drizzle – Shannon Crocker

Strawberry Pavlova – Sue Mah

What red and white foods are you going to enjoy on Canada Day?
