How to love apples with a savoury twist

by Zannat Reza, MHSc RD

When cooking with apples we often think sweet desserts, but getting creative with this Canadian staple can lend an unexpected twist to savoury recipes as well.

My colleague, Anna Richardson, developed a series of delicious recipes. Dig into an apple salsa, an “apple-tizer” (a twist on a crostini), and a Japanese-inspired baked chicken katsu curry.

A couple of must-try savoury apple recipes from our friends at Canola Eat Well also caught our eye:

Roasted Vegetable with Apple Salad with Spice Gomasio

Eggplant with Apples, Fennel and Cumin

(Disclosure: I’m doing some TV for Canola Eat Well featuring savoury apple recipes. As always, opinions are 100% mine.)

Do you have a favourite savoury way to enjoying apples? If so, we’d love to hear about it.
