Taste of the Tropics Mango Smoothie

Being of South Asian descent, mangoes were a staple in our house. Mangoes were always eaten fresh. Once cut, there were never any leftovers. My sister and I would squabble over who ate the most mango, and more importantly, who got to eat the flesh off the highly-prized pit.

In recent years, I’ve discovered another way to enjoy mango – in a simple smoothie. If you like lassi, which has more yogurt than milk, then you might like this less tart drink.

This recipe calls for fresh mangoes, but you could try frozen. Personally, I find the cinnamon provides enough sweet factor. Feel free to adjust the sweetness to your taste with a bit of honey.

Taste of the Tropics Mango Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 1 cup mango cubes (fresh – approx. 1 medium Ataulfo mango)
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients into Vitamix/blender.
  2. Whirl.
  3. Enjoy!
